I had the opportunity and pleasure to meet Mildred Muhammad. You might recognize her name because she is the ex-wife of John Muhammad, the DC Sniper. I met Mildred because I sent her an e-mail asking if she would speak to a young woman I work with who is involved in a physically abusive relationship. Although she did not know me or the young woman, Mildred agreed immediately to make time to speak to her.

Mildred spent two hours counseling this young woman on the signs of an abusive relationship and helping her to see her own worth and value. On our drive back to the office, the young woman repeatedly thanked me for taking her to meet with Mildred because their conversation had made such an impact on her life.
